Have you ever wanted to meet and connect with singles from around the world? Well this Sunday September 20, 2020, you can! Plenty of Fish is uniting singles via livestreaming for the world’s largest virtual speed dating event. According to the Guinness Book of Records, the largest known speed dating event took place on Valentine’s Day in Dublin last year with 964 people, but Plenty of Fish anticipates twice as many people will be tuning in on Sunday to participate in the event!
In partnership with The Meet Group Inc, following the world’s largest speed date event, both Plenty of Fish and The Meet Group will each donate $10,000 for a total of $20,000 to Feeding America® in light of the coronavirus pandemic. Every dollar donated is used to supply food and funding to local food banks across the country.
Here’s everything you need to know about the event.
Is the event free to join? Yes!
When is the event? Sunday, September 20, 2020
What time is the event happening? The event will take place in a three hour window from 8 p.m. – 11 p.m. EDT. Speed date for one hour, or stay for all three.
Members across the globe are invited to join the event also:
- Rio de Janeiro – September 20 at 9 p.m. GMT-3
- Hong Kong – September 21 at 8 a.m. GMT+8
- Tokyo – September 21 at 9 a.m. GMT +9
- Sydney – September 21 at 10 a.m. GMT +10
How do I join the event? All you have to do is log into your Plenty of Fish account and tap the “Live!” icon. Once you’re in Live! you can press DATE and hop into NextDate. More instructions on getting into NextDate can be found here.
How does the speed date work? Just like in-person speed dating, this event will give you 90 seconds to live video chat with your potential match and give you the option to move the conversation over to one-on-one video.
Can I match with more than one person? Absolutely, during the three hour window of time, you can match with as many or as little people as you like.
Why should I join? Because Covid-19 has made it a little more difficult to meet people in-person and the next best thing to do is to meet virtually and possibly make a really great connection. Not only will you be meeting people locally, you have the opportunity to chat with singles from around the world. Let’s make history shall we?!
What should I talk about with my date? The world is your oyster! But, we know meeting someone new for the first time can be a little exciting and nerve wracking, so to minimize the pressure, we’ve put together a list of conversation starters for you here.
